AdministrationThe recommended starting dose if you are either anovulatory (don’t ovulate at all) or oligoovulatory (ovulate infrequently) is one pill (50 milligrams) per day for five days. If ovulation does not occur at this level, your doctor may initiate a second
course of 100 mg daily for five days, and at times to 150 mg per day. The medications are generally taken on days five through nine of a menstrual cycle, but the best timing may vary from woman to woman. Increasing the dosage or duration of therapy beyond
150 mg per day for five days is not recommended. If ovulation does not occur after three courses of therapy, or if the ovulatory response is not achieved, further treatment with clomiphene is not recommended. Approximately four out of five women ovulate after taking clomiphene citrate. Ovulation generally occurs five to nine days following completion of the medication. Related Links |
