When to considerIntrauterine insemination (IUI) is often considered for couples whose infertility investigation has failed to detect a specific cause of infertility, and who have been trying to conceive for at least two years. IUI should not be considered unless a
thorough investigation has been performed to try and determine the cause of the infertility. For women, the tests required to determine a specific cause of infertility will assess ovulation, the quality of the fallopian tubes (by laparoscope and/or hysterosalpingogram), and hormone levels. For men, tests will assess sperm production including
the number, motility and shape of the sperm. |
